Young Artist Competition (Sat. 4 Feb, 2017 9:00 am)

The Kansas City Symphony invites students between the ages of 13-18 to participate in the 2017 Woman's City Club Charitable Foundation Young Artist Competition. Nearly $2,000 in prize money and the opportunity to perform with the Kansas City Symphony will be awarded. A completed registration form and $20 non-refundable application fee are required to audition. Preliminary Auditions will take place at MidAmerica Nazarene University's Bell Center located at 2030 E College Way, Olathe, KS 66062. Selected finalists will perform on Saturday, February 18 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Helzberg Hall.

Christian Youth Theater South Presents Willy Wonka Jr. (Thu. 16 Feb, 2017 7:00 pm - Sun. 19 Feb, 2017 2:00 pm)

Wonka200CYT Kansas City presents “Willy Wonka, Jr.” which is based on Dahl’s classic children’s book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Roald Dahl also wrote James and the Giant Peach.In this show, a likable boy named Charlie Bucket and his grandfather experience grand adventures when Charlie wins one of five golden tickets which allows him to tour Willy Wonka's mysterious chocolate factory. The other four ticket winners are incredibly bratty and selfish, and everyone must follow Mr. Wonka’s strict factory rules or suffer the consequences.

Christian Youth Theater West Presents Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Thu. 23 Feb, 2017 7:00 pm - Sun. 26 Feb, 2017 2:00 pm)

Joseph200In this Biblical Old Testament saga of Jacob and his sons, Joseph is Jacob’s favorite son who has prophetic dreams. Unfortunately, Joseph’s brothers’ jealousy causes them to shove Joseph in a well and leave him for dead. When he is sold into slavery by his brothers and taken to Egypt, Joseph endures a series of circumstances in which his spirit and faith are continually challenged. In the end, Jacob and his sons are reunited and reconciled.
